Punah Hutopah Kola, February 24, 1993 to August 16, 2010
Punah is an Italian expression for when you dunk your bread in the sauce…or egg yolk…or oil and vinegar dressing…and your donut in coffee. Hutopah Kola are two Sioux words put together that mean four-legged friend.
Punah had this sweet, nearly silent, meow. It was more of a longing, reaching-out to me expression in her face when she greeted me or wanted a treat or was just happy I finally sat down to hold her. She also had a voice like a wild cat when she would call out… wondering where I was in the house. “I’m in here, Punah!”
Without Dr. Cooney’s counseling during her last few weeks, I may have waited too long. Punah crossed over peacefully but I don’t know where she is…her beautiful spirit… the workings of her mind…hopefully on a new journey full of bliss and joy. I miss her terribly… I work at home and will miss her seasonal routines and our daily rituals, her purring… her voices, keeping an eye on me, the sound of her crunching her food and drinking water, her walking on the floor… and her quiet meow from her perch in the window when I’d get home to my precious PooPoo…pee..do!
Punah, you are my blessing… thank you for spending your life with me. I’ll remember you and miss you and love you forever..XOXO…snickle-fritz!!!
